Jamie Rae

Senior Specialist Scientist, SEPA

Jamie graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Physics and Astronomy, before pursuing a PhD in astrophysics at the University of Leeds. Following this, he spent 15 years at the Met Office, working on different aspects of climate modelling and climate model development. In 2018, he moved to SEPA, where he is a Senior Specialist Scientist in the Flood Forecasting and Warning team.

Jamie’s focus is mainly on developing SEPA’s capabilities in forecasting surface water flooding impacts.  He manages a variety of projects in this area and other areas of flood forecast development, and is also an operational flood forecaster, serving on the duty flood forecasting rota.
